What Is PRP Treatment?
To understand what PRP rejuvenation is, it helps to understand what plasma and platelets are. Plasma is made of water and protein and helps your blood cells move effectively throughout your body. Platelets are the blood cells that form blood clots and contribute to healing. They also promote cell growth. Once the patient’s own blood has been drawn, the platelet-rich plasma can be separated from the rest of the blood using a centrifuge machine. Then the PRP is injected into an area where the patient needs facial rejuvenation treatment.
Once the PRP has been injected, it stimulates growth factors in the body, ultimately contributing to skin regeneration. This procedure is a relatively straightforward non-surgical option for those wanting anti-aging solutions.
Dr. Yamasaki is able to determine what the best option is for your skin needs during your initial consultation.
The PRP Treatment
Dr. Yamasaki is a board-certified Otolaryngologist-Head & Neck Surgeon with advanced fellowship training in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. She regularly performs PRP treatments specifically for their anti-aging and skin rejuvenation benefits. She sees patients at her offices in Princeton, Hillsborough, and Yardley for multiple treatment types. If you’re interested in PRP, or other cosmetic treatments you can request a consultation with her.
PRP Consultation
To get a full understanding of what a platelet-rich plasma facial would mean for you, you can request a consultation with Dr. Yamasaki, who will answer all of your questions and determine if you are a good candidate for the procedure. Make sure to disclose any medical conditions you have to Dr. Yamasaki to see if there are any other factors that might affect how your body handles the treatment.
During your consultation, Dr. Yamasaki will get a full understanding of your skin history, sensitivity, allergies, etc. in order to ensure that you have a good end result and a painless process.
If it is determined that you are a good candidate for a PRP facial, then Dr. Yamasaki will provide you with pre-procedure and post-treatment instructions.
The Ideal Candidate for PRP
PRP facials are great for anyone who is starting to feel the effects of aging and wants to stimulate collagen production and have more healthy skin. Men and women of any age are eligible to receive PRP treatments.
Dr. Yamasaki recommends PRP for patients who are not ready for surgical alternatives. Platelet-rich plasma is a good way to get a rejuvenating boost without going the surgical route, and it can be done in 1 hour.
Please keep in mind that if you have a history of blood disease or have any issue with blood clotting or a bleeding disorder, this treatment is not for you.

PRP Treatment Details
Dr. Yamasaki customizes PRP injections to each patient’s needs which is determined during the initial consultation.
PRP facial treatments are conducted as injections. Patients can schedule a PRP treatment done by itself or opt to combine the treatment with others to enhance results. The other treatments that are combined with PRP include microdermabrasion or micro-needling. These prepare the skin to be more receptive to the injection.
PRP Skin Rejuvenation Steps
1. Getting the blood drawn
2. Separating the platelets
3. Injecting the PRP
Avoid Blood Thinners
The entire process of your PRP treatment will be fully discussed at your consultation, but before coming to the appointment, Dr. Yamasaki recommends stopping any blood thinners (such as ibuprofen).
PRP Recovery
Because this is a quick and relatively non-invasive procedure performed by Dr. Yamasaki, there is very little recovery time. The special quality of PRP is that you are injecting something that promotes healing in cells directly into the problem area. This is actually why PRP is often also used for sports injuries: to promote healing. Similar to a Botox treatment, patients can walk out with no signs of having had work done (unless it has been combined with microdermabrasion or microneedling in which case there will be temporary redness).
